Nate was raised on a farm in Maine to strict Catholic parents. His father once traveled six miles to return 6 cents to an A&P grocery store because of a mistake of being given too much change by the clerk. Nate was one of 8 children, but his mother had 20 siblings and his father 14. He knows all about family.
Nate served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for nearly 4 years and during his last tour of duty he worked on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Saratoga. He receives a small service connected disability because of an injury he received while on the flight deck.
Nate attended the University of Southern Maine after his honorable discharge where he studied business administration. He has always been active with new challenges and in his last year at the University, he and fellow classmate Dave DeLorme compiled and published the book The Maine Catalog. This was the predecessor to what is now DeLorme Mapping.
Nate earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in Management from Ricker College, a Master's degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and Master's degrees in Public Administration and Human Resources Management from Troy University. He completed a Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Phoenix. During his doctorate program he published two peer review journal articles and hopes to get one or two more published in 2009.
Nate began his federal career in 1973 and was moved into management in just one year. He worked for the Air Force in Maine, Florida and New Mexico and worked nearly 14 years in both Europe and Asia. He retired as the Human Resources Director at Kirtland AFB in 2003. He was responsible for all human resources functions on three different Air Force bases for 10 years during his career; as a result, Nate became extremely familiar with the issues concerning military members & their families throughout his Air Force civilian career.
After nearly 31 years of experience he developed advanced expertise in compensation systems, recruitment and staffing, benefits and entitlements, and management-labor relations. He also worked closely with foreign government officials and was a guest lecturer on strategic planning at Air University on several occasions. Nate's numerous awards include the Pacific Air Forces Personnel Specialist of the Year, the Strategic Air Command's Nonappropriated Fund Manager of the Year, and was recognized as the Air Combat Command's Civilian Personnel Officer of the Year 3 out of 4 years between 1997 and 2001.
During his federal career he graduated from a number of professional development courses, but most notable were the Air War College and the Advanced Military Personnel Officers' Course.
Nate is currently an educator and is a senior adjunct professor with Park University and is an adjunct assistant professor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Holloman Campus, which includes the White Sands Missile Range teaching location.
He has been married to Monique for 28 years. They have one daughter, Michelle, who resides in Phoenix.
