A joint memorial calling for the Department of Finance and Administration to devise a way for state government employees and others to anonymously report waste and inefficiency in government has been approved by the House Appropriation and Finance Committee, and will next go to the full House for a vote.
"It is imperative that all state legislators conduct themselves as good stewards of taxpayer dollars and that we use that money effectively and efficiently. The taxpayers of New Mexico expect us to be fiscally responsible," said Rep. Nate Cote, D-Las Cruces, the memorial's sponsor. "This is an opportunity for state employees and our citizens to provide input on what they may see everyday as waste or inefficiencies."
