in Iraq." The presentation at the White Sands Range monthly Garrison "Hail and Farewell" ceremony was attended by
Grumet's wife Jennifer.

Grumet served with the 3rd Platoon, E Company, 2nd Battalion of the 7th U.S. Calvary in Iraq from Oct. 21, 2006, through Dec. 8, 2007. He received the Purple Heart for wounds suffered while on duty serving in "Operation Freedom."

"Will is a hero by any definition," said Rep. Cote. "He has given so much to his country and served with great honor and valor. I present this certificate to him on behalf of the House of Representatives in gratitude for his selfless service to his country."

Grumet is currently stationed at White Sands Missile Range with the 7th Armor Division.

His mother Lori Grumet is the public service director for the City of Las Cruces. He is the son-in-law of Joe and Joan Jojola of Las Cruces.

Army Pvt. Alfredo Jr. Ortiz has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Ortiz is the son of Maria L. Perez of El Paso and Alfredo R. Ortiz of Chaparral.

He is a 2006 graduate of Andress High School, El Paso.

Air Force Airman Tyler J. Bishop has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Bishop is the son of Douglas Bishop and Jeane Greiner both of Las Cruces.

He is a 2004 graduate of Las Cruces High School.
