Rep. Nathan Cote Promotes Higher Education Through State Appropriations for Textbooks
at New Mexico State University at Alamogordo and Dona Ana Community College
Santa Fe, NM- On September 19, 2008, Representative Nathan Cote (D-Las Cruces) visited New Mexico State University at Alamogordo to view with Library Director Dan Kammer the text books acquired through state capital outlay appropriations Representative Cote obtained for the University.
"Because of the state appropriation Representative Cote was able to bring to New Mexico State University at Alamogordo, we have been able to purchase 343 books since July 2007 of which there have been 1,266 checkouts since January 2008," said Mr. Kammer. "We are very appreciative of his efforts on behalf of the University."
“Especially in these difficult economic times, I am pleased that I was able to help defray the costs of textbooks for the students and promote higher education,” said Representative Cote. “I was also able to obtain state capital outlay appropriations for books for Dona Ana Community College.”
“We were able to purchase 379 titles, several in electronic formats for use at our multiple campuses,” said Tammy Welch, Instructional Librarian for Dona Ana Community College. “We appreciate Representative Cote’s support and continued interest in our programs.”
